A BIKE FOR LONG HAUL BIKEPACKING

Updated: Mar 15, 2022

John from the States, come to us looking for a bike for long haul bikepacking. He planned to ride some sections of the Great Divide and the Colorado trail. He started configuring a Nua Roure Pinion, our flat bar adventure bike on our on-line builder app, since it is the model closer to his needs, and then we did some changes and adds.

He wanted to use a combination of the following bags depending on the length of the trip:

  • Bar mounted roll pack

  • 2 fork mounted (3-bolt) carry anything cages

  • 2 front feed bags

  • Full frame pack

  • Saddle pack

So we equipped the bike with:

  • Our custom "mini front rack" as a way to support a larger handlebar bag.

  • 3-bolt cage mounts on both sides of the fork

  • 2 bottle mounts on main triangle

  • Down tube underside cage mounts

  • 3-bolt cage mounts on seat stays

  • A custom rear rack as a way to strap a dry bag on top with tent, sleeping bag and pad, and micro panniers or anything cages (3-bolt mounts) on the sides.

In short, a bikepacking dream. Together with the custom geometry and fit, it's a perfect bike to live some long lasting adventures on any kind of terrain.

Regarding the components selected, a Carbondrive transmission (what else) as a worry free solution and a Pinion P1.18 gearbox (with the wider range out there) as a non-stop gearing system, are the great combo that bike needed. A SON 28 Thru Axle front generator hub was a must to self-power a front K-Lite lighting system and USB charger which John will install himself. We used for the first time the SON coaxial plug adapter, which has much easier removal of the cables from the hub. And we add Shimano 4 Piston XT Brakes, to make his descents safer.

Well, the rest of the components and equipment can be seen on the photos.

We are pretty happy with this kind of build, since we are able to build a really practical, rugged and well equipped bike but keepìng the clean and beautiful lines we are known for.

We hope you enjoyed it.
